What Made My Lewes, DE AC Overheat?
One thing that can ruin a hot summer’s day is having your Lewes, DE AC overheat. Even if the air conditioning starts up again, you need to know the cause of the problem. Learn more about some of the reasons for an AC overheating in your home.
The Air Filter Is Dirty
The air filter traps dirt, dust, pet hair and other pollutants that are in the air in your home. The filter keeps these particles from traveling through your HVAC system and out into your air. It’s no surprise that an air filter eventually gets dirty, and that can block the air conditioner’s airflow.
If the airflow isn’t flowing freely, the AC works harder to make up for the blockage. The added strain on the AC can result in it overheating.
The Refrigerant Is Too Low
Without refrigerant, the air conditioner can’t adequately cool the air before pushing it into your home. If the refrigerant level is too low, the system can overheat as it struggles to cool the air.
Issues With Condenser Coils
The condenser coils help release the heat that the refrigerant takes from your home. If something blocks these coils or makes them dirty, they can’t release heat effectively. This makes your air conditioning work harder, which can cause it to overheat.
Poor Maintenance or Age
An AC needs regular maintenance to continue working its best. If the air conditioning has gone too long without maintenance, wear and tear may have simply worn it down. An old AC is also more prone to overheat, need repairs and develop problems.
An AC that overheats can damage the entire system and possibly create a fire hazard. Reach out to us at Custom Mechanical today so that we can check your AC and stop the overheating.
